"I heard myself proclaim'd;
And by the happy hollow of a tree
Escaped the hunt. No port is free; no place,
That guard, and most unusual vigilance,
Does not attend my taking. Whiles I may 'scape,
I will preserve myself: and am bethought
To take the basest and most poorest shape
That ever penury, in contempt of man,
Brought near to beast: my face I'll grime with filth;
Blanket my loins: elf all my hair in knots;
And with presented nakedness out-face
The winds and persecutions of the sky.
The country gives me proof and precedent
Of Bedlam beggars, who, with roaring voices,
Strike in their numb'd and mortified bare arms
Pins, wooden pricks, nails, sprigs of rosemary;
And with this horrible object, from low farms,
Poor pelting villages, sheep-cotes, and mills,
Sometime with lunatic bans, sometime with prayers,
Enforce their charity. Poor Turlygod! poor Tom!
That's something yet: Edgar I nothing am."

I already know about pow-wows, but are there events where people go off into the wilderness and survive on berries, hunt, or live in traditional housing for a time.

Though I am not Native American, I would really enjoy an experience such as this. Though I understand many modern Natives still prefer modern housing, do they still have yearnings to experience old ways? I know I would like to.
Thats interesting that I encountered a Tlingit. Are you living in Alaska at the moment, or have you migrated?
Though not much, I am actually 1/8 Blackfoot. Because of this, I would obviously be interested in Native culture as well as any other heritage I may have.

As well as living a Native American life; The grass is always greener on the other side.

#1. I do believe in witches and I donat believe. In some regions of the world, witchcraft followed by witch hunts is still in practice today, mostly in Sub-Saharan Africa that pursues the Bantu culture. Witchcraft in diverse historical, religious and mythical context, it is the use of certain kinds of paranormal and supernatural powers to either to damage inhabitants, livestock, or their property, or to assist against the a?evila? witches. Some a?magica? is still used for inflicting pain (voodoo) and such, and some just to help the economy. Then there is just the a?innocenta? such as sAances (the calling of the dead).
Many people think of witches has really ugly with green complexion and hairy old warts on their noses. But again, thatas not true. They are everyday people that want attention in this society. They just want to belong in a group. My belief is that hundreds of years ago, some a?geeka? discovered that if he can add the right spark to, letas say, gunpowder, then it creates spark, sound, and smoke. Therefore they must have felt that they had some power over the a?mortala?. Scare them into respect and appear intimidating. And for the brews, they just learned how to preserve: frogs, snakes, beetles etca to look threatening.
So now a day they must were really creepy black cloths and are just plain disturbing to be around. I have seen some witches before, and now I understand why witchcraft hysteria went round. But why they had to be so cruel, Iam still not clear on.
I donat have any proof on my opinion; itas just what I believe. I always have an open mind that witches really could be real.
#2. I believe Reverend Hale was referring to that we should not be so quick to point fingers, assume or jump on people right away for criticism. He believes that the devil is around and that heas working on the people by making them cry a?witch!a? and executing them before they have a fare trial. Even then, most likely they were still sentenced to death if guilty or innocent.
In high-school, including myself, people jump to conclusions way to soon when they hear a rumor. Most donat even take time to listen to his/her own story, just what other people have told them. Even if they do take time to listen, usually what the victim has said is still pushed aside and ignored just because itas more interesting to say that someone did something even though that wouldnat normally do that. Its life and we never will get over it.
No one should be pointing fingers in accusation if they werenat there to witness it. They have any proof if someone bewitched someone, and maybe it was just luck of the draw that all your children die or that you canat keep alive male children. It just wasnat fair that innocent people were killed for no reason at all.

#3. Mr. Proctor is stating that if she is innocent, then why cant they keep an open mind and consider the possibility that Parris and Abby could be too. This quote shows that people back then had a very constricted mind. Once something was said, most believed it was witchcraft. They would often time execute before they would even think about listening to what they had to say. In my opinion, the Salem witch trials were over rated and should not have even happen. Innocent people were killed because of the running imagination of those that were too stubborn and lazy to give a fair trial.
#4. Being accused by association means that no matter what, if someone thinks you are guilty, then you are. Thereas no way out. And I have felt this way before. Many times in middle school, I was the target of someone always accusing me of things I had nothing to do with. But after months of that, I just gave up the fight because that could have made me win. So Iam guessing that after years of executions, some people still gave a fight, yet some didnat, they just gave up and went with the flow. Yes, it is applicable to the Salem Witch Trials. Many people were accused and not given a reasonable trial to keep their lives.

is it good?
SORRY! DIDNT MEAN TO OUT IT UNDER ALL THE BI AND LES AND HOMO STUFF

Hi I am very sad that Tigers have become endangered due to poachers who hunt them. But why can't we freeze as much tiger spem and egg as we can and rebuild the tiger populations in captivity? I am sure this could be done and we can also take tigers already in the wild as many as we can and breed them to the point they are no longer endangered. What do you think about this?

My cousins went gator hunting, and now they have the head and feet. We would like to know how we can keep the feet without them stinking and rotting.

Can someone tell me how to preserve/cure an alligator foot?

1. Which of the following statements best summarizes organic evolution as it is viewed by modern evolutionists? 1) it is goal directed 2) it represents the results of selection for acquired characteristics 3) it is the descent of humans from the present day great apes 4) it is the differential survival and reproduction of the most fit phenotypes

2. The theory of biological evolution includes the concept that 1) species of organisms found on earth today have adaptations not always found in earlier species 2) fossils are the remains of present day species and were all formed at the same time 3) individuals may acquire physical characteristics after birth and pass these acquired characteristics on too their offspring 4) the smallest organisms are always eliminated by the larger organisms within the ecosystem.

3. Some behaviors such as mating and caring for young are genetically determined in certain species of birds. The presence of these behaviors is most likely due to the fact that 1) birds do not have the ability to learn 2) individual birds need to learn to survive and reproduce 3) these behaviors helped birds to survive in the past 4) within their lifetimes, birds developed these behaviors

4. The bones of a human arm are homologous to structures in all of the following EXCEPT a
1) whale flipper 2) bat wing 3) butterfly wing 4) bird wing 5) frog forelimb

5. Evolutionary relationships, especially among some of the invertebrate phyla, are often most recognizable on the basis of similarity in 1) size 2) habitat 3) development 4) trophic level (food chain level) 5) niche

Questions 6 refers to the following information

Cytochrome c is a vital protein that functions as an electron acceptor in the electron transport chain within the mitochondria of all eukaryotic cells. It is composed of 104 amino acids linked in a chain that surrounds a heme (Fe) group. A scientist used the amino acid sequence of cytochrome c in different species to consider evolutionary relationships. The data below summarize the number of differences in the amino acid sequences of cytochrome c found in selected species.

human-chimpanzeeno difference
human - rhesus monkey1 difference
human - horse/donkey7 differences
human - cows,pigs or sheep7 differences
human - rabbit7 differences
mammals - birds/reptiles10-15 differences
fish - land vertebrates18-20 differences
plants - animals45-48 differences

6. Interpretation of the data supports which of the following statements?
1) rhesus monkeys are more closely related to rabbits than they are to horses
2) horses and cows have identical amino acid sequences in their cytochrome c
3) fish and land vertebrates are more closely related to each other than mammals are to birds
4) mammals are more closely related to reptiles than they are to fish

7. The introduction of antibiotics such as penicillin several years ago was immediately effective in combating infections caused by Staphylococcus. In 1958, however, there were several outbreaks of staphylococcal infections. People with the infections did not respond to treatment with any of the antibiotics and there was a large number of deaths. The best explanation for this situation is that 1) the bacteria reproduced in hosts that were not contaminated with antibiotics
2) the bacteria from other hosts such as birds, cats, and dogs migrated into human hosts 3) the bacteria exposed to nonlethal doses of antibiotics quickly learned to avoid them 4) each generation of bacteria acquired the ability to use antibiotics as nutrients 5) antibiotic resistant bacteria survived and multiplied and these were the forms causing the infections

8. One concept that supports the theory of evolution states that organisms best adapted for survival are the ones that will reproduce and pass traits on to future generations. Adaptations that can be passed on do NOT include 1) the basic structure of the organism 2) the reflex actions of the organism 3) the manner in which the organism caries out respiration 4) techniques for hunting food taught by the parents of the organism

9. A new species of organism has evolved when 1) the climate of a populationas area has changed greatly 2) a population can no longer interbreed under natural conditions with other closely related organisms 3) variation has occurred within the species due to mutations
4) a population has been recently isolated from the rest of the species by a geographic barrier
5) selection pressures have produced a group of local populations

10. Which of the following best explains the statement that natural selection is opportunistic (takes advantage of accidents)? 1) natural selection preserves chance mutations that happen to be of selective advantage 2) mutations needed for evolution arise only at certain opportunities 3

Was watching a show on pacific islands the other day. Some are being decimated by introduced alien species like possums, rats, and pigs wipe out native species.

The aim here isn't to question someone's veganism, it's to think of a market force that could fund the removal of alien species from threatened habitats.

If there were a program to hunt out the invasive species to protect and preserve the native species; would you purchase and eat the meat to support the program?

For the inevitable "just trap and relocate" response: Would you pay for the entrapment and relocation of 1 animal for each time you would have alternatively eaten a meal containing meat if you were not vegan? (say 5-7 animals a week). Keep in mind that trapping and relocating is an order of magnitude more expensive.

Maybe $30 a week to eat hunted meat, and $200 a week to relocate the same number of animals.

It seems to me that the "least harm principle" shouldn't just apply to not doing harm, but also to reversing harm already done.
As an additional note: Just as an example there are an estimated 70 million Common Brushtail Possums in new zealand. Just one of many non-indigeneous species there.

Okay, well, I've been stuck on trying to think of a conclusion to write for an hour or so, and gave up so I need your help!!

Here's my paper, it's over whether or not I think keeping animals in zoos is a bad thing, it's a controversial paper, if I need to fix something, please tell me, but I need help with the conclusion, badly! haha

Animals in Zoos
When I was younger, I did not enjoy going to the zoo. I love animals, however, I did not like seeing the fact that the animals were being tortured. I felt as if the animals were being tortured by not being able to roam in their natural habitats and sometimes kept in small confining spaces. I strongly believe that keeping animals in zoos is wrong, because of natural habitat and animal rights, education issues, and conservation of endangered species plays a key factor.
Whether animals should be kept in captivity, is a matter of debate. I strongly believe that every animal, person, or thing on this Earth has at least some form of rights. Whether itas living or religious rights, we all have some form of rights, the same goes for an animal; animals that are captured for what ever reason should be a breach of the law and should be. I also feel that hunting should be abolished. I feel that thereas no reason we need to be killing animals for amusement or for food.
I feel that people go to zoos for more of an entertainment aspect, than possibly going for an educational purpose. In fact, according to one study, many visitors do not pay much attention to the animals; they are actually talking to each other about unrelated things and spending only a few minutes at each display. I feel as if there is more of amusement issue, than an educational aspect of a zoo from the times I have seen people throw food and provoking the animals. Whether or not you go to a zoo for education matters, I think people may get the impression that a zoo is the only place you will see animals. In addition to, I believe the traveling aspect of going on a field trip could be costly if you are not nearby a zoo, which could turn down the trip from high expenses.
I believe that the animals in the zoo are bound to suffer, because they are stranded for their entire life. I feel that animals will go through various amounts of stress from body movements from not eating to the boundaries and limitations of zoos. Whether we are trying to conserve the animals or not, I believe that we are trying to save the animals less by just giving them a home in a zoo. I feel that the efforts should be taken to study, protect and preserve animals; however care should be taken that animals suffer the least in the process while trying to conserve the animal.

For a few years now I have been having strange dreams involving wolves. Most of them if not all are violent, or hostile. I will give you brief summary's of each of them I have had so far.

Dream #1
I am in a hot-tub on a hill near a forest. There is a small patch of grass separating me and the forest, as well as a large patch of grass separating me from my house. Suddenly wolves emerge from the woods. They stare at me, and growl. I immediately get out of the tub, and run into my house. The wolves cries grow louder. I lock my doors, however they try to scratch inside the house. Eventually one breaks in, and begins stalking me. I wake up after it chases me and almost has me in it's grip.

Dream #2
I am in a forested valley. There is a large sloping hill to the East leading to a house, and to the West, North, and South there is woods. Wolves growl from the bushes, and an enormous pack emerges from the dense forest. The howl, and run around me, not harming me. However their eyes are sharp, wary, and protective.

Dream #3
I am in a graveyard full of monsters and mythical beasts. A huge gray wolf emerges from the forest below me, and stares me in the eyes. That is the last time I saw the wolf.

Dream #4
I am in the forest with my friend. He and I are walking, suddenly we are confronted by a white wolf. He is the leader of the pack. My friend and I morph into wolves. Not a slow process, but like, in the blink of an eye. One minute I am human, and the next, I am a wolf. However it is not night, perhaps sunrise, or sunset. I could not see the moon. The wolf begins challenging my friend and I. He takes him captive, and I run away, as a human, not a wolf. He chases me as a human as well, no longer as a white wolf, and asks me to train him and make him as fast as I am, in exchange for our freedom.

Dream #5
I am in the forest preserve walking along a dirt path. Wolves emerge from the forest, and chase me up a tree. I never leave the forest.

Dream #6
I am in a great pasture. There is a fence separating the pasture, from the woods. There is one lone tree, bordering the inside wall of the fence. Suddenly, wolves emerge from the forest in a great pack. They stare at me. howl, and run along the expanse of the fence, attempting to enter. The fence breaks with no apparent cause, and the pack rushes in. I can't remember the rest of that dream.

Dream #7
I am in a great battle. I can transform into many figures. I have a wolf as a companion helping me in battle. He retreats into the forest to hide from a Snow Queen, who is hunting vampires and wolves down. The forest, is burned to the ground, and I am not sure what happened to the wolf.

I love wolves, however the majority of my dreams with then are surrounded by fear. Please explain if you know what this could symbolize or mean.

Thanks!

As a history student I came upon a part of the U.S history that Americans students never read in History books, that is the Haitian had also fought in Savanah, Georgia to help the Americans. This fact is only available in some reference books that are lock in library and it is not open to the public. The story goes like this, below is a quote

"Haitias aid to US in 1779
Dialog from Bob Corbettas Haiti List, October 1995

"Haitias Aid in 1779: How Eight Hundred of Her Freedmen Fought for America

The New York Tribune, 6 July 1921

To the Editor of the Tribune.

Sir: The generous Haytian contribution to the cause of the independence of the United States is scarcely known in this country, for the American historians do not mention the fact.

In 1779, 24 yrs before Haytian independence, responding to the call of the Comte daEstang, the Affranchis, that is to say the Haytain freedmen numbering about 800 blacks and mulattoes, left their families and their homes and went to fight side by side with the soldiers of George Washington. At the seige of Savannah, the colored sons of Hayti fearlessly shed their blood for the independence of the United States.

In an official record prepared in Paris, secured by Richard Rush, the American Minister to Paris in 1849, and preserved in the Pennsylvania Historical Society, are these words: This legion saved the army at Savannah by bravely covering its retreat. Among the blacks who rendered signal services at that time were: Andre, Beauvais, Rigaud, Villatte, Beauregard, Lambert, who latterly became generals under the convention, including Henri Christophe, the future King of Hayti.

The Haytian legion in the army of Comte daEstang was known in the army as Fontagesas legion, commanded by Vicomte de Fontages. They met the fierce charge of Lieutenant Colonel Maitland and saved the retreating Franc-American army from total disaster.

The Haytian people know that the great American nation, burning for liberty and justice, having the highest traditions of political ideals and human solidarity, the champion of the defenseless peoples of the world, is always working for the happiness of mankind.

Having aided the united colonies of N. Amer. in 1779 to achieve their independence, the Haytian people remain convinced that they can to-day expect from the spirit of justice and humanity of the American people and their present government a more attentive consideration of Haytias freedom, rights, and interests.

Signed by Stenio Vincent, NY July 4, 1921.

To set the context, this was published during the US occupation of Haiti, specifically while a Haitian Memorial (commission of Haitians) was in the US, under NAACP sponsorship, to provide testimony to the US Senate Select Committee investigating the US occupation.

Questions:
call of the Comte daEstang??
Also, does anyone have any further info on this event or related events, as a whole?
I am currently researching info for an extensive lecture on US/Haitian relations (18 and 19th cas). This article I found very interesting.

On a related note, what is the consensus on Alfred Huntas book, Haitias Influence on Antebellum America? I found the book to be nothing more than a diatribe on the dangers of Haitian independence for the US slavery institution. I, for one, grow tired of reading these type of accounts that can find no other redeeming quality in history of blacks than to talk of slavery (as if there were no other contributions made to history) This is why the above article caught my attention.

Any comments would be appreciated.

This is one of the important topics of my forthcoming dissertation Room to Wiggle: Social Mobility of Free People of Color in Pre-Revolutionary Saint-Domingue 1776-1789. Brief historical synopsis: the Comte daEstaing, former governor of Saint-Domingue and recently appointed leader of the French expedition to Savannah, attempted to recruit colored militiamen to serve in the expedition. Coloreds had been recruited for regular military service before, during the 7 Yearsa War and also for the expedition to Cartegena in the 1690as. Free coloreds formed the majority of the colonyas military forces and military participation was important to the free coloredas view of themselves as active citizens. It proved important to their claim for expanded civil rights at the time of the French Revolution.

The colonial government had long wanted to regularize the militia as it had done in France. White colonists resisted increased militia obligation

Lucia de Bleu stood alone in the world. She was deadly; she was malicious. She was evil; she was cruel. She was bitter; she was vindictive. She stood alone, not deserving a companionanot wanting one.
Her hair was a vivid scarlet, the color of fire and sunset. Her eyes were the lightest of blues, almost but not quite white. She was unbelievably pale, but applied no rogue or other coloring. Her body, likewise, was made of opposites: curvy yet slender; muscular but lean.
This contrast of colors and physique served to make her visibly otherworldly. On anyone else, it would be striking, but not pretty. Lucia, however, was gorgeous. The dissimilarity of her features made each one stand out all the more. She had a unique beauty, a strange beauty; but the fact that she was beautiful was undeniable.
Lucia loved her beauty. It drew her prey unwillingly toward her. The vain were always curious of those who hurt their pride. She laughed as she thought of this, the shrill cackle ruining the effect of her splendor.
Her body was nineteen years old. How she wished every part of her was nineteen! It might provide some relief from the monotony of her life. She lived in the world of humans: stupid, weak, petty humans. Mortals who were so fragile and frail; it could hardly be considered a crime to eliminate them. What purpose did they serve?
The mortals were such a moronic race; repeating the same mistakes over and over again. Thinking they were special for attempting to change thingsa Lucia knew better. The collective human heart, though certainly more pure than her own, lacked the capacity for selflessness in the face of adversity that was required for such pursuits.
Lucia, at least, didnat try to help or hinder their foolish plans. She killed when she needed drink; no more, no less. She smiled, remembering that long ago she was a human. She wasnat any longer; she neednat let it bother her. She didnat let it bother her.
Lucia remembered that she was born a long time ago. The memories of the various centuries blurred, each blending into the next. She didnat remember much, and didnat try to. She lived in the moment, aspiring to forget the wrongs of the race she was forced to live with. That race didnat deserve to survive, and Lucia was doing her part.
Lucia was homicidal. By textbook definition, she committed murder for sustenance. But what was the point of preserving a life that would eventually end anyway? She was speeding up the process, and gaining a pleasant return.
The faces of her victims never stood out. Each as the next, they were so unoriginal, so human, that there as no real defining characteristic. She could recall almost hallowed expression that entered their eyes before life left them; the sense of foreboding had long since left her, and the slaughter hadnat bothered her in any of her few memories. The blood excused the means through which it was taken.
That was always the same. There was no flavor to blood, just the sense of relief that filled her as she drank; as though she was exhaling after holding her breath. She didnat need to feel guilty for taking the life of a human, and she didnat. Guilt was the remorse that few humans felt when faced with a wrong theyave committed. Guilt was the remorse that no one of her kind felt; guilt was for those with a conscience.
Lucia stalked her prey, consumed them, and moved on. She hadnat a purpose in life. She didnat need one. She was content with herself. Enjoying the hunt, playing the game; she felt at ease while taking pleasure in removing all those who bothered her.
Lucia was an ugly woman in a beautiful girlas body. Lucia was a murderer. Lucia was shameless. Lucia, the creature who lived with demonic passions, was content with her lifeaor lack thereof. Lucia stood alone, and Lucia kept it that way.
The indentations didn't transfer through on the formatting. I'll trust you to determine where I started a new paragraph. Sorry.

I know it's too much description, but other than that, what can I do to improve my writing? Do you like Lucia de Bleu? (=

How do you explain the whale bones found here... perhaps when God flooded the earth??? (noahs ark) there is no other explanation. you can google it, "whale bones found in Egypt" if you want to read for yourself

April 14, 2005aEgypt may not be the first place you'd look for whales, but once upon a time the Wadi Hitan desert was underwater and teeming with the sea giants.

Just this week here, geologist Philip D. Gingerich announced his team had excavated the first known nearly complete skeleton of a Basilosaurus isis (pictured). The 50-foot-long (18-meter-long), 40-million-year-old fossil will now be shipped to Michigan, where experts will preserve it. Later they will return the fossil to Egypt along with a complete cast of the skeleton.

The first of the truly gigantic whales, Basilosaurus had the serpentine shape of a sea monster and short, sharp teeth for hunting sharks and other prey. Unlike today's whales, it had no blowholeathe ancient behemoth had to raise its head above water to breathe. What's more, Basilosaurus still had the feet it inherited from its land-dwelling ancestors, according to Gingerich, who works for the University of Michigan and is a National Geographic Society grantee.
you're not answering my question...
i assume that when the whole world was flooded, the whale was left there when the flood was over and it was left there to die. there is no other explanation for this.

1) Hunt them down with a newspaper
2) spray that nasty smelling stuff to gas them
3) scoot them out the door, preserving their lives to torment you again
4) ignore them

I have nothing against hunting. My whole family hunts. I am also a biologist however, and have some serious issues with claiming that hunting deer protects the environment. I understand that deer are overpopulated, eat lots of forest vegetation, and cause accidents. If they are overpopulated why don't hunters stop feeding them so much? Wolves, coyotes, mountain lions and bears use to handle the deer population but, human encroachment and hunting have ended this balance in nature. Now we are the predators, but there are too many of us. Therefore from the deers perspective, and by using the theory proposed by hunters, the humans should be hunted in order to protect the environment. We hurt the enviroment way more than deer ever will. A keystone species is also suppose to be less populous than it's prey in order to preserve the balance. There are too many hunters to make this work. I have researched and researched year after year and have found nothing that makes me think hunting deer is for the environment and not for fun. Besides the only litter that I ever see in game lands is beer cans and shot gun shell casings. Is that protecting the environment. If you want to help the environment stop littering and please stop shooting Bambi. I have giving up hunting in recent years due to my research. How much longer can this excuse for hunting go on?

First, I am newly married (four months ago). Second, we lived together for a year before we were married, but we were both slobs and so we didn't really get into fights over cleaning...but just because we didn't clean.

We both do much more now, he takes care of the pets (four cats, one dog daily). Litterboxes, waste pickup, and feeding and taking them out. I do the laundry more often, but he helps. We both shop. But I do a bunch in the kitchen, we are vegan and avoid processed food so spend a ton of time cooking, baking, even baking our bread which takes hours. Plus, I do all the recipe hunting and make up the shopping list. He comes for company.

Lately, we have been getting into spats over the dishes. I think he should do them since I cook every night. I help with them about half the time, but I think it should be his responsibility. But he doesn't seem to think so, he does them but he seems to resent it. Only when I am helping does he seem okay with doing them and I don't always feel like it. And we don't have a dishwasher, we can't have one because where we live the water is too hard and they break and besides it is an apartment anyway.

So my question is, should I shut up and do the dishes and preserve the peace or stick to my current stance, which seems fair to me, that my husband should be doing them more often then me? We have talked about it, and he seems okay with being in charge of them until there are actually dishes in the sink.

In spite of these preliminary remarks, the ground in the field of religion .where there is often a conflict between inteller and emotoin.is so slippery that one is constantly remimnded of fools that rush in where angles fear to tread. It is also so complex from another point of view. The subject of my wrighting is about the tenets of religion.which is historic, and its Prophet, who is also a historic personality. Even a hostile critic like Sir Willian Muir speaking about the holy Quran says that '' There is probably in the world no other book which has remained twelve centuries with so pure a test ''. I am also add.Prophet muhammed is also a historic personality , ever event of whose life has been most carefully recorded and even the minutest details preserved intact for posterity. His life and works are not wrapt in mystery .One need not hunt for the accurate information and embark on arduous expeditions to sift the chaff and husk from the grain of truth.

P/S: Thank you 4 your answers! If possible, could u also write your opinion? Thanks!!!
Thanks for all your support! I just need to add: THIS IS NOT MY HOMEWORK!!!! Arrr! I'm doing some research about politics, government and Parliament, I want to know what ppl feel about the monarchy! Though I'm studying Business and have nothing to deal with this, i feel it is interesting and just want to find out more!!!! So PLEASE dont misunderstanding as I'm not that KIND of student! Arrrrrr!!!!!

Picked up my Wellness dry packet while feeding my cats, read the ingredients (I had bought it on advice here, and not bothered to do so before, dumb me). It's the same with all the dry foods they make:

Ingredients (in order):
Deboned chicken (so far so good)
Chicken meal...WTF?
Rice
Ground Barley
Ground Rice
Chicken Fat (preserved with mixed tocopherols, natural source of Vitamin E.)
Natural chicken Flavour
Salmon Meal
Chicken Liver
Cranberries
Tomato Pomace
Olive Oil
Chicory Root extract Powder
Cranberry Fiber
Ground Flaxseed
Potassium Chloride
etc

Compared it to the other brand I feed them, Sanabelle, and it's almost the same, but Sanabelle's far better, in % of crude protein, crude fat, and crude fiber.

I compared this with Sanabelle, which I know has some fillers, but at least it also has green lipped mussel extract, which I know from experience is great for cartiledge etc. In vitamin anlysis, again, Sanabelle had double the amount of vitamins per kilogram of food.

I chose Wellness because they do not invasive animal testing, unlike Science Diet, which I used to feed my cat. I feel I have let down my cats, by promoting a food I normally warn people against - all because I never checked.

Boy do I feel like a dumb@ss.

So now the hunt goes on for the food (dry) for cats that has no grains (I have a seperate question about those), no "meal" and no by-products. (again I have more questions there too)

Since this makes up half of the food for my cat's day, it's important to me. Any suggestions?
Lots of things roughly fall under "proetin" but they are not all as good as muscle meat, which for a cat is the top of the pile. And they never say how much they use, just listing "crude protein", nor do they state what they use for "meal". That's what bothers me - that way I cannot tell how much of what is being fed to my cat on my dime without me realising.

I never thought you will leave
I thought still to live with you, more years
But suddenly you had to go
& find myself missing you
The day you were gone
Was the longest in my life
The moments went slow
my mind denying am farewelling you

I try my best, but I miss you so much!!
I miss you & all the little things about you
I miss your look, your smile, your face
I miss you in the dining room sitting in the head of the place
I miss you waiting, holding the perfume in your hand to spray it all over our hands :'D
I miss you sending me bananas and magazines :D :'(
I miss dieling your number and you answer with my name :''(

i miss feeling the joy of making you proud
I miss listening to your stories and how they sound
I miss updating you with my news
And I miss you standing at the door saying your all time phrase
" c u later alagaitors "

I crave the days when I would kiss your hands and your forehead
But it seems so far awaya
So I hold you close, in my memory preserved
your voice will never fade & your image wont thaw

I donat want to cry over you
cause I pray every day that you're in a better place
But a thought keeps hunting me
When will I ever see you again?
Nothing seems will stay the same
You're missed, more than words can saya
I try my best to move on
But the truth remains a you are gone

Are there scientists who have proof through our fossil records of evolution?
How many times have claims of evolution been dis proven?

This is from a professional geologist.

I can explain to anyone interested the highly relevant problem to evolutionists that this question raises.

Precambrian fossils are quite difficult to describe and even more difficult to summarize. This is not helped by their relative infrequency and, commonly, their poor state of preservation. Beyond the Precambrian a Cambrian boundary, however, there was a sudden explosion in palaeo-zoological activity; this is often known as the a?Cambrian Explosiona. Here, in the earliest Cambrian sediments, sophisticated articulate brachiopods, inarticulate brachiopods, trilobites, lamellibranchs, gastropods and echinoderms can be found in abundance. Trilobites are used as lower Cambrian stratigraphic marker fossils whilst the uppermost Precambrian rocks have no stratigraphic marker fossils at all!

In terms of evolution, brachiopods should have already undergone significant progression in terms of the split into articulate and inarticulate forms.

Likewise with the trilobites, where even by the early Cambrian, there were three distinct families represented in the fossil record; the Agnostida, the Redlichiida and the Ptychopariida.

Where are the Precambrian ancestors of these creatures? THEY HAVE NEVER BEEN FOUND!

Various ideas have been put forward. It has been suggested that increasing oxygen levels were responsible for this very sudden radiation in life forms at the base of the Cambrian. But why should that be so? Arenat there iron oxide rich Proterozoic (i.e. Late Precambrian) sedimentary rocks? Besides, there is the need to explain the sudden rise in calcium carbonate uptake by the Lower Cambrian shelled fauna and for this, no satisfactory explanation has been offered.

What we find are a?shots in the darka. We find that evolutionary palaeontologists offer suggestions as to why the Cambrian Explosion happened without providing any evidence that these things actually occurred. I personally donat know what happened but I cannot accept a Darwinian Evolutionist explanation for the sudden emergence of complex life forms when there are no similar, slightly less developed forms on the other side of the Precambrian a Cambrian boundary.

Charles Darwin, 150 years ago, recognized this problem in a?The Origin of Speciesa. He considered it an enigma that no fossil ancestors of the abundant Cambrian fauna had been found. He assumed that further paleontological research / fossil hunting would reveal these ancestors. With 150 years having now passed, isnat it time for the scientific world to be honest enough to state that no satisfactory scientific explanation can be found to explain the sudden rise in these preserved invertebrate fossils that is otherwise known as the Cambrian Explosion?

im making a ghillie hood and need to put ferns (because that is what is most around the area we play man hunt) and i need a way to preserve them so they dont dry up. i used to pick cat tails and spray hair spray on them so they didnt release their seeds and i was wondering if you could do something like that with ferns

The first book was about a couple of kids (maybe three) who were separated from their parents. I don't remember the situation that caused this, but the story took place in the US. They set out on a journey to get home and somewhere near the beginning of the book they stop to buy hot dogs from a street vendor. One of the kids wants his plain but the oldest tells him to get everything on it because it's free and they need all of the food they can get.

The second book is about a young boy, maybe 12, who's dad was never around much (I think). The book is based primarily on the time he does spend with his father. At some point in the book the two get inside someones fenced in property/ hunting preserve. They take raisins that they have soaked in water, cut down the side and inserted a sleeping pill and then toss them out for the turkeys to eat.

I would guess these books to be pre-1950 but not positive. I wish I could remember more about these books, but it's been 20+ years and none of the search engine have been helpful. Thank you.
Found the second book. It's Roald Dahl's "Danny, the Champion of the World". Thanks for the tip geminiangel, that is a great site and everyone jumped on the question to help.

Tips on the first one may be Cynthia Voigt's "Homecoming" but it is inconclusive. It seems too new and doesn't seem to be it based on excerpts that I've read.
They got the other one too. "A Long Way to Go" by Borden Deal. Thank you.

The thickness of ice is the only poem that i need and cant find

i also need to compare it with twice shy:

Twice Shy

Her scarf a la Bardot,
In suede flats for the walk,
She came with me one evening
For air and friendly talk.
We crossed the quiet river,
Took the embankment walk.

Traffic holding its breath,
Sky a tense diaphragm:
Dusk hung like a backcloth
That shook where a swan swam,
Tremulous as a hawk
Hanging deadly, calm.

A vacuum of need
Collapsed each hunting heart
But tremulously we held
As hawk and prey apart,
Preserved classic decorum,
Deployed our talk with art.

Our Juvenilia
Had taught us both to wait,
Not to publish feeling
And regret it all too late -
Mushroom loves already
Had puffed and burst in hate.

So, chary and excited,
As a thrush linked on a hawk,
We thrilled to the March twilight
With nervous childish talk:
Still waters running deep
Along the embankment walk.

Before I say anything, let me say that I believe all religions should be respected and Christianity is no different. I do not intent to bash Christians, I simply would like to hear input. With that being said...The arrival of Europeans marked a major change in Native society. Tens of millions died due to sickness, and programs of slavery and extermination. Europeans and their missionaries looked upon Native Spirituality as worthless superstition inspired by the Christian devil, Satan. Many of the survivors were forcibly converted to Christianity.
Religion was a major problem between the settlers and the Indians. The settlers in New England were very serious about their Christian religion. They thought it was the one true faith and all people should believe in it. They soon learned that the Indians were not interested in learning about it or changing their beliefs.
Religious traditions of aboriginal peoples around the world tend to be heavily influenced by their methods of acquiring food, whether by hunting wild animals or by agriculture. American Indian spirituality is no exception. Their rituals and belief show a blending of interest in promoting and preserving their hunting and horticulture.
Many settlers came to believe that Native Americans could not be trusted because they were not Christians. The settler groups began to fear the Indians. They thought of the Indians as a people who were evil because they had no religion. The settlers told the Indians they must change and become Christians. The Indians did not understand why they should change anything.
So my question is, what do you feel about the Native American Indian? Do you feel that it was right to abolish his culture and spirituality to adapt a faith that was so different from his own? Why?
I just wanted to say thank you to EVERYONE who has provided input thus far. I find all your comments interesting and thought provoking.

Hello! I am wondering:

1) Is the .460XVR (Extreme Velocity round) a 'good'round, or revolver? Is it in the same leage as a .45ACP (ive heard they dont always deliver,) or .454 (Casull, i think?) or these other rounds (.44 Long) that are like in between .44 and .50-cal...

2) Why is 10mm so unpopular/hated? * limited number of MP5s (h&k) were chamberedin 10mm, as well as equally small # in .40-cal, per magazine, most are 9mm.

If the .50-cal i useless ( i thought it was too big an ive seen it with 10" barrels.) Are the Smith and Wesson 500 and .50 Beowulf equally useless?

3) They -really- have .60-caliber weapons? Arent those 'Destructive Devices?' Isnt .50-cal the largest thing that -IS- a P.D.W. And not a D.D. (Shotguns etc.?)

4) for Private Sale.... i need only prove to a seller (at a gun show if he is not an FFL, in which case he must clearly mark his table as such) or anywhere that i am over 21 and a residnent of same state with state ID (in this case, Ohio, Franklin county) to make the cash-and carry sale?

*to the man asking about motive: yes, the idiots on the bus made me mad. Not looking to shoot anyone. Id find a range at which to fire. I still have me freak BB Gun. Im interesdted in preserving my 2nd amendment before pres Obama remembers hes a Democrat and adotps Clintons F-grade policy on the cosmetic appearance of weapons.

What i meant by 'ATF is watching' was at gun shows, a private sale is legal even if it was right in front of an ATF agent. If i am not buying from an FFL, and i could show my ID to meet over age 21 law and resident of Ohio. They also wouldnt run my name... only 'checked at the door' to make sure i didnt steal the weapons i brought. ..... Yes?

This is useful for me, since ive wanted to hake firearms instruction. If the ranges also dont check you (saw videosof shooting guns at the range and there was a guy with his own gun behind them,) ill be ok.

Thanks.......... (Franklin co., Ohio)

HUNTING
HUNTING
HUNTING

How am I supposed to survive in the vast world of violence and pleasure?
Without someone to help me?
I've been told independence is a good thing but how are you to stand strong against the people who are out to hunt you down?
While hanging on to the last shreds of life you're pulled back by a mysterious source that can't be described.
Love.
Be it a crush or the real deal it can overcome any obstacle.
But what if the obstical is love itself?
Then what? Will you give into the pressure or preserve what's left of your feelings?
All of this time you've lost your meaning then thought you found it only to loose it again.
Can't life be simple?
This one time?
But I know that ir won't end.
Unless drastic measures are taken...and i'm not willing to meet those conditions.
I have more of my life to live and make it great.
I will conquer my dreams with or without someone by my side.
And I belive I will meet that someone someday.
It may be a long time form now considering all the approval me and my parents must give. Sometimes I wonder...where or when I'll meet him...where he's from and what he'll plan to do.
And yet, even though I say I'm happy alone...
I'm not.
All my friends go along and find there's for a while. I don't find mine anytime soon.
And don't get me wrong.
I like someone.
But I don't.
And everyon tells me otherwise.
That he's gross and perverted.
That may be the reason i don't like him.
But i love it when he's silent...
Then i can see what he really is.
I can peer in his eyes, those blue-gray eyes.
And still yet I feel...out of leuge.
Like i don't even have a place on the popularity factor.
Even if I have all the friends I could ask for.
Being pushed around and unoticed most the time breaks down my self confidence.
Even as i write this down i feel, nothing in paticular but if i had to give an emotion it had to be sorrow.
And i'll be lauging but if you listen carefully you'll hear the rattle of my broken heart.
As it breaks into peices again and again.
It breaks at the seams and throbs with built up emotion that i've hidden for so long.
My friends curiosity may get to them and they'll read this.
But i won't mind, they'll finally know how i sort of feel.
But now my hands hurt and i must say that i depise some people with jealously.

Know that at the time i was upset about something. And i write to vent out my feelings. I'm in the 8th grade so i thought this was pretty good.
^_^ opinions?
and sorry it's so long.

Little did Darwin know that when he invented his theory of evolution for living things, evolution of languages was happening all around the world. The author of a?Get Beyond Babela? Ken Wiwa believes that evolution of language is necessary for a culture to stay alive in the flow of the world. He argues that trying to freeze a language in a time will leave it vulnerable to extinction. A language should be left alone, and only then will it flourish and prosper. He also states that if a culture and language appears to die, it is really just absorbed into another culture. Being one of the indigenous cultures in Africa, he writes from personal experience and studies.
The theory that trying to preserve a language will doom it is very valid. This can be easily seen with endangered animals. When endangered species are captured in order to save them, and later released into the wild, they die off as they forget how to hunt. It is the same with languages. When languages are isolated and then later reintroduced in the real world, they cannot keep up with the flow of the world, therefore cannot survive. Furthermore, languages and cultures that are secluded will be behind the world in terms of technology and news. As a result they will be in a disadvantage. For example, the Highland clans in Western Europe were removed from the world during the Enlightenment Era. When Britain tried to colonize them, they fought back with sword and buckler. As a result, they were easily defeated and their culture and language lost. Therefore, trying to preserve a language will eventually exterminate it.
If a language is not hampered in any way and is left to grow, it will do so with a stubborn determination. Take English as an example. English is not even an original language. A cross between Anglo-Saxon speech and German, English has only been around for 400 years and is already the most spoken and most familiar language in the world. This is because English is a language that is constantly borrowing words and evolving. If a person speaks English, it is probably easy for him to speak some words from French, German and other languages. For example, football has the same meaning in French as it is in English. Therefore, Englishas property of constant flux keeps it from extinction. In fact it does the opposite; it keeps it in the lead of other languages and establishes itself as their leader.
The statement that cultures and languages never die and are always absorbed by other languages is not entirely correct. As mentioned earlier, the Highland clans were destroyed by the British and their culture and language decimated. In that case, their language was not absorbed by the English. Looking at another instance, when the indigenous people in America were overrun, their language and culture were not absorbed by the invaders. Hence, it is not necessary for a language to get sucked up into another; it is possible that it will just die out.
In conclusion, Wiwa thinks that trying to conserve and safeguard a language and culture may eventually lead to its utter destruction. He states that keeping a language in touch with the world and letting it evolve on its own will ensure its safety. However, he wrongly believes that if a language dies, it just gets absorbed into another. Wiwa states his belief in one simple statement, a?Though we look back, we must always go forwarda?.

a couple questions for a project I have:
-what seasons did they hunt buffalo?
-how did they preserve it?
-what nutritional value did it offer?

==Skip down to the bottom for the questions, or read here for the story!==
I have a female 3 year old black lab, and a male 3 year old yellow lab. Neither have been neutered. A few weeks ago, I got them each a large bone. I gave it to them at around 7:00 p.m. and right before I got in the house I heard a bark and a growl and then no more noise. I figured they were arguing over the bone, so I thought nothing of it. When I went out there in the morning, both bones were gone. (These were BIG bones! Real bones too, not treats). Just today I was at the grocery store and I bought them each ends of bones. These were once again real bones, preserved by the butchers at my grocery store so they didn't stink. I played with my labs for an hour or so, and then I led them back into their kennel. I gave Biggin (the male) his bone. I set the other bone down for Caroline to get when she came in. Usually, they both go into the kennel instantly upon command, but this time I had to coax Caroline in. After I got her in, I went to sit on the dock and enjoy the breeze we were having. Then something weird happened. Biggin started barking at the neighbors, usually Caroline is the first one to bark. The whole time during these 10 minutes or so, Caroline was sitting on the side opposite of the side Biggin was sitting in (they always lie down together). I thought something was wrong since I wasn't getting the right vibes from my dogs. I walked up the boardwalk to the kennel, and Caroline saw me. She wagged her tail and started walking toward the side to meet me (as normal), but then I saw Biggin. There he was lying next to both of the bones, looking straight at Caroline. Not even chewing the bones. By now, I'm kind of freaked out, but I say, "Hey Biggin!" He stood up instantly and just stared at me, and his eyes looked puffy and red. He wasn't wagging his tail (weird). I walked over to the entrance and I walked in the kennel. Biggin looked up at me, picked up his ball, dropped it again, and laid back down next to his bones. This is also very odd because he always stands up when he's around me, unless he's tired, and in that circumstance he lays in water. So I walk over to him and I just stand over him. He glances up at me and wags his tail some, but all is not right with this situation. I could sense the attitude he was adopting, so I didn't make any sudden movements. My brother tried to intervene because I was acting too hesitantly, but I have a feeling Biggin would not let anyone but me touch his bone. I went to grab one bone, doing so slowly, and he jerked his head to it but did not make any apparent aggressive signs (hair raising up, baring teeth, growling). I did not retract my hand, but I grabbed the other instead. Biggin now stood up, with all his attention on me. But I didn't want him to be the hog and just have Biggin get the two bone pieces while Caroline watched. I led Caroline to the opposite side and closed the gate, to keep her there. They were now separated as they were before, but with a gate separating them this time. I threw the bone I was holding into Caroline's side. A split second passed, and then... Biggin FLIPPED OUT! I've never seen anything like it... his hair was raised, he was barking through the fence at Caroline, and was trying to get through. Caroline held her own though, she responded back with viscous barking. I didn't dare try to grab Biggin, he was in a mode that I did not want to be around. I stepped out of the cage and closed the gate. After a few seconds, they quit. Then I went to step out of the cage but Biggin followed. I got Biggin back in, then I proceeded to Caroline. I opened Caroline's side and let her out. Then I went into Caroline's side and opened the latch that connected the two pins, but I didn't open the gate. I went back out of Caroline's side and closed the gate behind me. I then reached over and opened the connecting gate to reunite Biggin with his other bone. I then let Biggin out. I took their ball and threw it as hard as I could over our house into the front yard which gave me time to grab both the bones and throw them way out into the marsh, out of sight. When they came back, all was right with the world (after I washed my hands to get rid of the smell). Paste ~*~ at the beginning of your response if you've read my story, please.

Question in short:

1.) Do all dogs revert back to their wild and survivalist state when they're presented with real bones? (Not milk bone treats)

2.) I think Caroline was afraid to enter the kennel earlier because she could sense how Biggin reacted to the bones, possibly based on her memory of the last time they had bones. Is this normal male dominance over the female, or was Biggin overreacting?

3.) If Biggin reacts this way to bones, will he behave even crazier if he has a duck in his mouth instead of a bone? Will I ever be able to take him hunting?

4.) It's clear Biggin recognizes me as his "pack leader", but I can't help but wonder w

What would you do if you arrowed a deer in warm weather? Lets say you shot it at sunset. You have no garage. You have no walk in cooler. The butcher shop is closed. How would you preserve the meat?

Going out of your way to buy eco friendly products like shade grown coffee, recycled materials. Spending some time cleaning up waste, and hazards you notice in your area. Setting up your environment to where it is friendly to as much life as possible. Saving wild animals. Clearing and replanting trees to where devastating forest fires do not occur. (Believe it or not human habitat has made forest fires more devastating to the environment by fighting fires and changing layouts than good) Hunting predator animals, and others who become over populated and imbalance the food chain, conserve water. etc?
Who do you think is really more consciece and stewardly regarding the environment?

As we know it humans like us either Cro-Magnum man or homo sapiens have been around like 50,000 year probably more I don't know my point is the recorded history only has 3-5000 thousand years of recorded word as in books writings. we know that even Neanderthal man had the ability to make vocal sounds and speech so homo sapiens did have speech and language we know this. where are these writings anything they could collaborate hunt fish build what about records of the sun in a book not just wall paintings more like a significant language even like 15,000 years ago have they all been destroyed by religious elitist where are these something had to of survived preserved by ice a letter of word this is essential why would we all of the sudden make language 4,000 years ago when we have really been around much much longer.
In a nut shell my question is why havent we recovered any written word from either books or and paper form?

We have written records from 3-5000 years ago but not before. We think that
cro magnum and hom sapiens have been around for much longer like 60,000 years in fact we know. So in that period why no books we ha dthe ablity of laungauge physically byt homo sapine and cro magnum time where is it .
I hope im clear what isnt to understand what did i miss a comma who cares read it! LOL

Stroganov's Wanderings

Vladivostok, Dec. 6,1990

Winter's spell blanketed red square with thick snow, from the Kremlin, Isaac Stroganov peered through the cold, rusted, metal window. It was noon and he could see workers from the factory, bundled in thick, gray coats smeared with grime, trudging their way to the luncheon. This was his escape every noon after lunch, he liked looking out to see the bustle of the great city, but most of all, he enjoyed the musings of the common folk. One skeletal, middle aged man, he found particularly interesting, he continually stroked his white bear absentmindedly, almost forcefully pulling at it. Isaac concentrated his thoughts on him and slowly, his mind became shrouded with fog. The fog cleared and he was in a dark, musty room filled with books. The flat reeked with the scent of stale tobacco, and the furniture was covered in dust. Isaac looked out the circular window, this is an attic, he thought. It was so dusty that whenever he took a step on the creaking, wooden floor, clouds of dust would rise in crescendo with his footsteps. The room was failry large for an attic and Isaac explored it with fervent interest. The small study was dedicated to half of the attic,it was separated by a door leading to another room. Isaac ceased looking at the window and turned his attention to the door. Opening the door, another great cloud of dust spewed at him. This room is for storage, he thought. All kinds of furniture, magazines, trunks and trinkets littered the room. strangely it was better lighted than the study, it had two windows on both sides perfectly brining the sun's orange rays in. Isaac bent, climbed and handled numerous objects. He found an old flintlock hunting rifle and jars of preserved animals. He walked towards the farthest corner of the room hoping to find more treasures, carefully traversing the trickiest part of the room, populated by dirty old lamps, cabinets and a broken bike, Isaac came upon a hospital bed, lying in it was a woman, blonde and pale, tied to the bed in chains, her blue eyes wide and empty. Her face was covered in blood. She was dead.

The story is about an adolescent who has the ability to go inside people's minds but can only see their darkest secrets.

Please note i'm only a 9th grader, constructive criticism is very welcome.

Someone who has taken classes in this...please help me out.
This question has always bugged me because down through the ages until more recent times it has been said that Europeans are the most advanced race and there was that crazy "white mans burden" thing which basically was about the superiority of the white man.
I guess it is a touchy topic and that is why no one has ever explained this in school, but it always seemed really logical that all can be explained by climate/food and water sources. In hotter climates like in Africa, there was not always a water source and people had to spend time hunting with no easy way to preserve meat. They probably spent every day just struggling to get food, water and shelter, so it just makes sense logically that they couldn't build like the Europeans (except for the Egyptians, located conveniently by the Nile River). In climate extremes of any kind people really can't get ahead until the food/water/shelter thing is taken care of. Native Americans got to America fairly recently in the evolutionary time-line and since they were mobile for a good part of that it makes sense that they didn't have the architecture of Europeans or Egyptians or anything like the Great Wall.
I don't know, a culture's growth seems to be related to its location, right?
I mean it makes sense to me, so I don't think it should be such a touchy topic.

I was hit on by a man, twenty years older than I. He confessed to having three children, and his wife left him - not for another man, but to be alone, he got under her skin that much. He confessed to running away from paying child support, and for living off some woman he picked up and at her basement free of charge, no job. He said that he wanted a lot of things, but primarily a pretty young girl to tell him how wonderful he was, and who would go to bed with him for "no strings, just for pleasure". He had a big bald patch on his head, beady eyes and red face. He said that he was "picky" and would not just go with any girl, twenty years younger than he, but a pretty one with an advanced education, a good conversationalist, her own place to welcome him, and making him laugh was a must. When I asked him why I would strive to be all these things and what would I get for trying that hard, he said: "You will get me!"
Now, I do not want any super feminist answers, or super macho answers like "he is a man, and you must do what he wants". I'd like someone to explain to me how men - sad losers of them - manage to preserve such a good opinion of themselves. I am not bad looking, have an advanced degree, and a nice person, but when I am attacked like this, I doubt myself, and very insecure. Such men (he is only an example, I've met many like him, with similar issues) are nothing daunted. He looks at the mirror and says to himself: "I am an advanced middle age, with red face, bald head, wrinkled all over, can get it up barely, have three abandoned children, justice hunting me all over the country, no place to live, no savings, no looks, no job, no car, nothing, and I am a God's gift to women, and I am picky about them." I'd like to have some of their conceit, but can't get how they do it.
What do they do to have such a high opinion of themselves and such huge egos, what do they do, what is the secret?

Are you renting or in a condo or city home with your money in the stock market getting your water from the city your food from the few grocery stores in the area and counting on our government ot save all you have worked for.

Or are you a "hick" or as many on here call us rural inbred or uneducated. we "hicks"(my extended family)live in western Mi on three adjoining farm sections (about 400 acres) we raise beef chickens pigs horses. We hunt fish and have the largest fresh water reserve on the planet (great lakes)we all work but mainly for needs such as cars and sundry items for the home TV's etc.....But in the end the land can sustain our families.
Why are we "hicks" because our grandparents came through the depression and knew of the inability of the government to be truth full and to do what is right. they counted on themselves and on the family and we still do.
Question is I see many on here throw rocks and name call rural folks and it just makes me smile to know that those will be the first ones to realize that they put their eggs in a basket that will grind them to dust to preserve itself.
Where are your eggs.
Tuna once in awhile we have that problem but we shoot coyotes around here.wink wink
Spur my father in law bought 250 of the acres in 1960 for 300 and acre all our land is ours. well as much as it can be with property taxes and all.
Spur things are not good in detriot grand rapids etc.... but the farmers here are ok.
davec..I don't know how you live there I feel like I am in prison in a big city it just "feels" wrong surrounded by concrete steel and glass.
The only "life" in the city is people and many of them are not what you would call a friend.
Ann Coulter....you need a new fixation.
Guru..god forbid the economy fails but if it does you can always come by for a nice corn fed steriod free steak.
Take care fellow gander.

White-tailed deer (WTD from here on) are one of the few species (apart from pigeons, the cursed winged rat) that have benefited with human expansion, forestry in particular. They thrive in edge communities such as cut-blocks that are undergoing natural or induced revegetation, and as a result, have experienced a huge population boom.

WTD have also evolved with a parasitic brain worm that is transmitted by snails. "but wait!" you cry, "deer don't eat snails!" and "WRONG!" says I, they do infact eat snails. These snails are mesoscopic (in the 0.5mm to 2 mm range) and live on vegetation such as grasses and low lying shrubs. when these snails crawl through the contaminated feces of another deer or cervid, the parasite enters the snails body. when the deer inadvertently eats the snail, they get infected. the brain worm travels from the digestive system, to the circulatory system, and then to the brain, where it reproduces/munches on brain matter. Though this sounds very unpleasant, the WTD are hardly affected due to their long evolutionary history with the worm and have a tolerance as a result.

so what's the problem then? Well like with most parasites, the worm's evolved to maximize the benefit it gets from the deer without killing it. the problem occurs when other cervids (Moose, elk etc) ingest the snails (and worms as a result). This cause huge problems in these animals as they have no evolved tolerance, and it often kills them. Because of this worm, and because of the expanding range of WTD on the continent, moose, elk, and other cervid ranges are being pushed back because as the WTD move in, they infect the other animals and out compete them because of their evolved resistance.

so, the question (after a very long winded background) is should we encourage hunting of WTD and even go so far as cull them in order to preserve historical habitat for other animals, or should we do nothing, and allow them to continually invade?
Where I'm from, WTD aren't protected and are regularly hunted. When I say "encourage hunting" I mean have add campaigns and remove limits on the number of tags you can have (open season)
"They have in no way benefited from our development though, so I dont know where you got that. The only reason they are thriving is because their predators are gone. If the wolves were still around then the deer populations would be considerably smaller due to habitat destruction and human encroachment. Stupid rednecks should get their facts straight before posting."

1st. name calling completely ruins any valid argument you may have made.

2. I was very clear HOW WTD benefit. the clearing of land, like cut blocks creates more vegetation for them to eat. e.g. eating a mature coniferous tree (hard to do) versus eating a seedlings

3. I, in no way condone that hunting of animals for sport, I was getting at that there maybe should be add campaigns stating the benefit of deer MEAT not antlers.
4. Coyotes are bountiful, just because you don't see them doesn't mean they're not there. Coyotes, in the absence of wolves have been shown to grow larger and hunt in packs to occupy open niche space

I am often told these things are "natural," and that eating meat - and thus the slaughtering of the animals concerend - is healthy, civilised and even "good."

Why, then, do even meat eaters use terms like "lamb to the slaughter," as negative phrases? How come violent murderers or tyrants are described as "butchers?" Why do journalists refer to genocide as "slaughter?" What about the large numbers of serial killers and similar criminals who have worked as as slaughtermen, often for the specific reason that it is an occupation which prohibits frequent killing?
There have been numerous works of art depicting hunting as a chivalrous and traditional activity, but usually this relates only to the act on men in red coats riding horses across fields. I cannot think of any examples of paintings, poems or music promoting or celebrating the actual killing of the foxes.
Similarly, those who work in slaughterhouses are usually depicted as grim, ugly or stupid people who do not care what they are doing. In the novels of DH Lawrence, the works of Shakespeare, and in the case of people I have known who have done those jobs, this has been so. If slaughtering animals is so wonderful, why is this job not promoted at careers fairs and in schools and colleges as widely as, say, IT or office work?
Why do most people express disaffection when you mention slaughter, abbetoirs or the practises involved in killing the animals, such as slitting their throats or disembowelling them in order to preserve their pelt?

I'm trying to create a list of all conceivable tangible skills a person can have. Yes, it's a bit daunting, but it's for charity.
So I'm asking for help. Please help complete my list! Thanks.

What am I missing??
Remember, think skills rather than jobs.

I have some experience hunting. I have hunted small game and some dove and have also hunted deer during gun season but now I am interested in fox hunting and would also like to go on a coyote hunt as well (coyote's are ruining the rabbit hunting in the areas and are very populated). What advice do you have for a new fox hunter in North-Eastern Ohio? What time of day or night is best and what type of location is best? I am currenlty planning to use my Marlin .22 mag with scope as my only other rifle is a 30-06 and way to powerfully as I would imagine - do you think the .22 mag is good enough and what rounds would you recommend to get max range and killing power but preserve the fur? Do you have any advice on fox behavior and how to call them? Any help will be appreciated. Thanks.
I will hunting Red Fox

Do you know how to:
grow a garden?
sew?
identify safe water and filter it?
preserve food?
shoot a gun?
hunt/fish?
start a fire without a lighter/matches?
or anything else?

Please tell how old you are...I think there is a direct correlation.

A newly constructed
Barrow stood waiting on a wide headland
Close to the waves, its entryway secured.
Into it the keeper of the hoard had carried
All the goods golden ware
Worth preserving. His words few:
a?Now, earth, hold what earls once held
And heroes can no more; it was mined from you first by honorable men. My own people heave been ruined in war; one by one
They went down to death, looked their last on sweet life in the hall. I am left with nobody
To bear a sword or to burnish plated goblets,
Put a sheen on the cup. The companies have departed.
The hard helmet, hasped with gold,
Will be stripped of its hoops; and the helmet-shiner
Who should polish the metal of the war-sleeps;
The coat of mail that came through all fights,
Through shield-collapse and cut of sword,
Decays with the warrior. Nor may webbed mail
Range far and wide on the warlordas back
Beside his mustered troops. No trembling harp,
No tuned timber, no tumbling hawk
Swerving through the hall, no swift horse
Pawning the courtyard. Pillage and slaughter
Have emptied the earth of entire peoples.a?
And so he mourned as he moved about the world,
Deserted and alone, lamenting his unhappiness
Day and night, until deathas flood
Brimmed up in his heart.
Then an old harrower of the dark
Happened to find the hoard open,
The burning one who hunts out barrows,
The slick-skinned dragon, threatening the night sky
With streamers of fire. People on the farms
Are in dread of him. He is driven to hunt out
Hoards under ground, to guard heathen gold
Through age- long vigils, though to little avail.
For three centuries, this scourge of the people
Had stood guard on that stoutly protected
Underground treasury, until the intruder
Unleashed its fury; he hurried to his lord
With the gold-plated cup and made his plea
To be reinstated. The vault was rifled,
The ring-hoard robbed, and the wretched man
Had his request granted. His master gazed
On that find from the past for the first time.
When the dragon awoke, trouble flared again.
He rippled down the rock, writhing with anger
When he saw the footprints of the prowler who had stolen
Too close to his dreaming head.
So may a man not marked by fate
Easily escape exile and woe
By the grace of God.

I have to translate it to modern english.
Help people. please.

I'm going hunting this winter for some elk/moose/deer, probably in Alberta, Canada. Which places in Canada do you recommend? Also, I will be eating the game after the hunt it. How would you go about preparing a big animal such as this for consumption? Any parts to avoid...or preserve? I don't know if I'll be doing the shooting since I'm a novice, I'll probably leave that up to my uncle.

I have a big budget for this, so money is not an issue. What gear should I get? Any shooting tips? What if I run into a bear? I have many questions in so little time. I really want to live an outdoors experience for a few weeks and just want to prepare.

Thanks!
